Friday 19th August: 2 Falls and A Tower

It's a beautiful blue sky morning here in Clearwater.  This is the view from the balcony of our room

A very peaceful spot along the Clearwater River on route to Dawson Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park

The first sight of Dawson Falls which are a very easy flat 10 minute walk from the car park

They are incredible falls, very similar to The Cumberland Falls in Kentucky, USA

One of our favourite shots of these falls. Needless to say as ever I took loads of pics

Amazing, very powerful, noisy and photogenic falls
After leaving Dawson Falls this is the road/bridge that leads on into the Park

Next stop is Helmcken Falls which again is just a short walk from the carpark. There is also a trail that takes 45 mins to get to the other side of the falls. The fall is 462 feet in height, in the info leaflet they are classed as one of the best falls in Canada but we disagree with that as although dramatic they don't for us have the appeal of Dawson Falls or Myra Falls on Vancouver Island which are far more stunning

View of the other side of the gorge of Helmcken Falls

It was fascinating to watch the spray and mist rise from the power of the water

Time for lunch in a very quiet peaceful spot called Green Mountain Tower. Having said that considering it is still the school holidays we haven't seen that many other tourists.
This tower is 3.5km up a gravel track and has panoramic views of Wells Gray Park with information boards for each view from the tower

One of the views from the tower.  We had planned a long walk to Placid Lake but when we accessed the trail it was rather overgrown and we were a bit weary so back to the room for a cuppa !!
Great memories again from today.........
